Let me start off by saying what I’ve been saying all my adult life.  I don’t care who smokes pot.  I think it should be as legal to grow as tomato plants are today.  I have no problem with the plant in it’s original form.  I don’t think it should be illegal to have possession of it on a federal level, state level, or local level.  I don’t care that much about pot, mary jane, bud, weed, the chronic, or as they refer to it in it’s white collar form today, “cannabis.”  So before you go sending me messages that I hate pot just know that I don’t, so don’t send them.  I’m not against it, I don’t care who does it and I don’t see it as a bad thing.

Now, let’s get to what I do have a problem with;

  1. Cannabis is a DEA supported drug.  That means a federally supported drug out of one side of Washington’s mouth and not a federally supported drug out of the other side of it’s mouth.  I have a problem with that.
  2. The Federal Government subsidizes the Cannabis Industry through crop insurance where there are no caps on how much a farm business can receive in crop insurance subsidies.  I have a problem with that.
  3. There is a built in practically guaranteed expansion factor in the cannabis industry most notably where the federal government wants a new emerging industry.  In this case the cannabis industry is to replace a large portion of what the pharmaceutical industry creates with their opioids.  I have a problem with that.  These industry professionals are riding the backs of the U.S. taxpayers and are being born on 3rd base.
  4. The tax windfall from the cannabis industry of $20 million by year 2020 that the Mayor of Desert Hot Springs Scott Matas foresaw is not going to happen.  He sold the industry to the voters by implying that the city would see greatly increased numbers in tax revenue come in to help the CITY and it is not happening.  Scott Matas is still going to the state and county and federal government with his hat in his hand looking for free money for our city.  I have a problem with that.
  5. The city’s leaders here in DHS keep the full and part time residents in DHS captive within a narrow band of information thus keeping them in the dark as to what the deeper details of what’s going on.   They tell fables such as the Mayor’s famous story on how he was against pot before the city almost went bankrupt with $400 in the bank then had a sort of come to reality moment and considered pot as a possible savior for DHS.  Pure fiction that is.  Why do they tell you fables?  Because if they told you all the “legal” details and the corporate/federal government/california government plans that were laid for the replacement for opiods over the last 30 years you would freak out on them.  If they told you about what they have been plotting and scheming to do with Cannabis/Big Pharma for almost a decade now, you would be extremely pissed off.  I have a problem with the lies through omission that are committed on residents of Desert Hot Springs.

What we’re dealing with here when it comes to the Cannabis industry is another swindle that was passed right in front of the average uninformed voter in Desert Hot Springs.

Desert Hot Springs is well known for it’s publicly perceived corruption.  There is even a large swath of what is believed to be swindlers and crooks that occupy this city.  what better place to plant the first crony swindle known as pot cultivation than right here in DHS?  It’s a match made in board rooms and it proliferates the very thing the city of dhs says they want to clean up.  The image of the city.  Well I’ll be darned, the very group that says the city needs to improve it’s image does the very same opposite by allying with companies taking doles from taxpayers to create their businesses.  Would you look at that, ain’t that something?

So let’s break down what I see happened.

  • The Federal Government, which most people know by now is run by large corporations including the Pharmaceutical industry, needed a new product instead of opioids to control the population and cause deaths to occur.  Because just like the money system that has to be changed every generation, the mega powerful drug companies need to change their drug du jour almost just as often.  That drug now is Cannabis aka Pot.
  • The Federal Government put out it’s calls to wealthy entrepreneurs on the inside track towards cannabis legalization and research and found willing participants by the hundreds eager to develop the process from seed to consumer.
  • The State of California just like Colorado which approved commercial cultivation in 2012 before Ca did, needed a spot on the map of California to kick this crony operation off.  Desert Hot Springs residents fell for it.
  • In these years between legalization of Commercial growers in California and other states the Pharmaceutical industry needed 3rd parties to run the operations before they took the Cannabis industry over.  Pharma will own cannabis if not already, I can guarantee it.  The government (again run by big pharma) needed federally protected, federally funded, state backed, locally supported, private cannabis growers to enter the market as an interim party between the demise of the opioid addiction epidemic and the takeover of cannabis by big pharma.  That’s where Desert Hot Springs came in.
  • Cannabis Cultivation took off in Desert Hot Springs after the pot lobbyists finished the framework for the commercial operation to entrench itself in the city.  Candescent, MedMen, Coachillin, Tyson Ranch are right now enjoying a practically worry free existence with abundant federal funds backing them, state backing, big pharma buyout options on the horizon, and home run statistics practically handed to them through crony legal partnerships between themselves and kingmakers like the government.
  • Councilman Gary Gardner was also brought in not by happenstance but as an expert in consumable chemicals and their transference from being a state run substance to a corporate sellable product.  He’s not just a bubbly guy with a cute dog named ‘Luna” as he portrays himself.  He’s an expert in the field of policy making around state regulated ingestible chemicals.

Here’s where we’re at after a few years of this game.  It leaves us with a clear hindsight as to what happened and what’s going to likely happen.  As Coachillin’s video below shows, the confidence in the cannabis industry is almost at the level of complete and total arrogance.  They don’t have the same fears that entrepreneurs who aren’t afforded the same subsidies and government backing that the pot industry has.  The little guy has to sweat it out til his business takes off.  Not the pot growers in DHS.  There is practically no risk for these companies if they play clean with the Government.

You have to see this breathtaking high production quality video of the Coachillin Operation being built in DHS partly to social engineer the visitors towards what I believe will be the future big Pharma ownership of the industry.  It really is an amazing video, I’m especially impressed.

The Cultivators really have very little to worry about when it comes to failure as long as they play by the rules set forth by their masters, big pharma and the government.

They have a built in success factor that almost cannot be undone at this point and they know it.  They stand to gain massive wealth due to this crony connection they’ve made with a system that creates money out of thin air.

You can even tell that the cultivators and all of the supportive parties that surround them are giddy with love for the current government system and especially the occupants in our city government in DHS.  That’s because the Cultivators and dispensaries are forever indebted to the current local supporters and regulators of this taxpayer funded racket that is the government supported Cannabis Industry in Desert Hot Springs and beyond.

The Cultivators and extended party players in DHS will at this point do almost anything, due to their substantial profit margins propped up by government, to continue with the status quo.  After all profit is the number one motivation for the Cannabis business.  That’s why they call it a business.

There just seems to be no way for human beings including the higher ups in the cannabis industry such as Greta Carter and Dr. Robin Goins to hide their delight in how well financially they are doing via cannabis, supported by being carried on the backs of the american taxpayers.  Greta Carter transplanted to DHS to participate in the development of California’s leap into the legalization of commercial cultivation.  She made money off of seeing it grow in another state before she relocated to DHS to oversee it’s sprout here.

If only they could just once in a while act like they are not so superficially motivated by money it would be nice.  I just wish that they could just sometimes pretend like they care about the city and the problems everyday people face.  I wish they would address main street problems in our city that is providing them these huge financial opportunities instead of practically always emanating this glow of living within a dream come true oblivious to the suffering people are enduring in the numbered streets daily.

Their own predictable inability to see how they appear shows their biased attitude towards what makes them rich.  They are blindly unaware of how they let the cat out of the bag as to their impossible loyalty to the same people as almost all the other big cannabis players in Desert Hot Springs show us they support.  The Cannabis Alliance in DHS shows their unified allegiance to the status quo that is massively disliked by the public in our city.

It’s impossible for all the big players in Cannabis in DHS to practically all have the same opinion of the same people running our city as all the rest of them do.  They virtually all rave about the same majority of public servants running DHS and almost never criticize them over things that really matter.  That gives away their crony alliance game right there by itself.  It’s a statistical impossibility.

All of these pot people’s public actions point to their unwavering support for a fake system that brought and continues to bring them such great wealth due to their deep association with crony politics and lack of a need to build something without help from cheaters.

So where does that leave us today?  Swindled again perhaps by yet another group of influencial people in DHS that live off of welfare and promotes it’s way of life on us.  Some of us don’t support that as a way of life long term.  It’s fiscally unsustainable but hey that’s the goal anyway, to bankrupt the country to bring in a new digital currency backed by absolutely nothing.  But that’s a discussion for another time.

When are we going to get to a point where people are going to wake up to the fact that as much money as possible is being blown by government to end up in the pockets of crony business people?  When are Mr. and Mrs. Desert Hot Springs going to see the people running cannabis for who they truly are.  People who don’t mind leaving a wake of socially controlled human beings in their path for the gain of wealth.  People who will leave out of their everyday parlance the details of how they stood on the shoulders of poorer people to get where they are.

It seems like it’s always the same story when it comes to being sold a bill of goods.  We’re told it’s a good deal for us and then we pay for it many times over.  Please wake up.

Reminder!  I have no problem with cannabis.  I have a problem with uneven playing fields where one group is favored over another group not because of their ability but because of their association.  Handicapping others for financial gain is never a healthy track to run on as a society.  Especially when taxpayers pay for that financial success thrown at the insiders.  It’s called cronyism.

Hemp and CBD now qualify for one of the most lucrative — and wasteful — government subsidies

“Good to know that regardless of their personal preferences and beliefs, U.S. taxpayers will now be directly supporting companies that would benefit from hemp production like Wana Brands that make products using marijuana as well as CBD, or New Age Beverages Corp. NBEV, -6.31% that makes CBD-infused drinks.”

“Just another of life’s little crony capitalist ironies!”

DEA Wants More Marijuana Grown And Fewer Opioids Produced In 2019. Really.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) isn’t exactly known as big fan of marijuana. But in a new Federal Register filing set to be published soon, the anti-drug agency is moving to more than quintuple the amount of cannabis that can legally be grown in the U.S. for research purposes—from roughly 1,000 pounds in 2018 to more than 5,400 pounds next year.

From Stat News

The DEA is looking for candidates to grow marijuana for research — but will it find any takers?

“Wanted: Someone to grow marijuana for the federal government. Benefits: A contract likely worth millions and the chance to enable medical research. Requirements: Ability to deal with the costs and regulations that come with growing an illegal drug for the federal government.”

From the Federal agency the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA for short)

“WASHINGTON – The Drug Enforcement Administration is streamlining the application process for researchers who study or wish to study Schedule I substances not currently approved for medical use. Schedule I drugs are defined as drugs, substances, or chemicals with no accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse, such as ecstasy or LSD.”

“As of December 2017, more than 590 researchers were registered with DEA to study Schedule I substances. Every researcher who has submitted a valid research proposal has been approved. Many researchers conduct multiple research protocols, so the number of approved studies with Schedule I substances exceeds the number of registered researchers.”
